Holy Cow! I never knew so much about Captain Beefheart. What a wacko he was, and how crazy were the recording companies that tried to turn him into another Mick Jagger-type pop star??? When you look at where he went after that, it just seems totally blind and insane ... Did you catch the idea ascribed...

BTW. I mentioned this entry to Billy when I jammed with him last Monday night, and he laughed loudly. He did say that he was dropping Bobby McGhee off somewhere that night, and going 70+ when he came to the place where Earhart Road changes from 4 lanes to 2 lanes ... and he was in the wrong lane. Earhart...

I'm so glad you reminded me of the "zombie hoof". When billy wiped it out into that tree up on the hill on Earhart road, the hoof left the antenna and flew into the woods. We never thought it would be seen again, but I somehow think I remember that Billy went back, possibly a few weeks...

When I listen to the free concert recording I am amazed -- I just didn't expect to hear the strength of chops, the tightness we managed, and the relative professionalism of the music, as whacky as it all was. It makes me wonder if I've improved my skills much at all over the past 32 years .....
